Assisted Stretching in Myrtle Beach: How It Differs From Stretching on Your Own

Assisted Stretching in Myrtle Beach: How It Differs From Stretching on Your Own

If you play golf or pickleball, spend your days at a desk, or just wake up tight in the hips and back, you have probably stretched on your own and wondered whether it is doing much. Assisted stretching is a different experience, and it is now available at Himalayan Salt Therapy in Myrtle Beach.

What is assisted stretching?

Assisted stretching is a one-on-one session with a trained practitioner who moves your body through stretches for you. You stay fully clothed and relaxed while the practitioner guides each position. Because you are not holding the pose with your own muscles, it is easier to settle into the stretch.

How is it different from stretching on your own?

When you stretch alone, you tend to stop when it gets uncomfortable, and you tend to repeat the stretches you already know. With a practitioner you get:

- A second set of eyes. The practitioner looks at what is tight, whether that is hips, hamstrings, shoulders or back, and focuses there.

- Support. You can let go instead of bracing, which makes each position more comfortable.

- A plan. You leave knowing which areas to keep working on between visits.

Who is it for?

Many of our guests are golfers and pickleball players, but it also suits people who sit a lot, stand all day, or simply want to move more freely. If you have an injury or a medical condition, check with your healthcare provider before booking. We do not make medical claims, and stretching is not a substitute for medical care.

What you can book at HST

Our Bio Lab offers assisted stretching with our stretch practitioner, Alejandro Maldonado:

- Assisted Stretch, 25 minutes: $59. A good first session to feel the difference, focused on your tightest areas.

- Assisted Stretch, 50 minutes: $99. A longer session covering hips, hamstrings, shoulders and back.

- Free 15-Minute Stretch Consult: not sure where to start? Come in for a quick check of your hips, back and shoulders and a recommended plan, at no cost.

Prices and availability are shown on our online booking page and can change, so check there for the latest.

Stretch session or massage?

They do different jobs. A massage works on the tissue while you lie still. An assisted stretch moves your joints and muscles through their range. Some guests like to do both, and a stretch can be added to a visit. Ask the front desk about options when you book.

What to wear and expect

Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, such as athletic wear. Arrive a few minutes early. Tell your practitioner about any sore spots or limits, and speak up if anything feels like too much. The session should feel like a firm, comfortable stretch, never painful.
